In my job I am blessed with photographing the beginnings of life. Sometimes those beginnings are endings here on earth, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have an amazing impact on our world. Many of my new followers may not know that I volunteer for an organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. I was joined with a family that I was blessed to be present with during their only earth moments with their son Gideon who was diagnosed with anencephaly early in the pregnancy.
I don’t normally talk about my NILMDTS families, nor do I publicize about them. But this family has been special and has openly made their Gideon as public as possible so that he may impact and help others through his all too short journey here. His family’s strength and faith are infectious and I can’t help but share their story in hopes that others who are in the same predicament find comfort in what I can only imagine is one of the most difficult things to ever face.
Please take a moment to read Jenny’s blog about the coming of Gideon. But be sure to grab your tissues first. Scroll below for the beauty that is Gideon’s Day (I only put some of the photos taken that day…there were alot!). Some are duplicates of what she has in her blog, they are just biggerhttp://ouranencephalyjourney.blogspot.com/2012/07/june-2-2012-day-i-will-never-forget.html?spref=fb
